Gantt charts still provide a good vehicle to scenario of the project. I have learned that a scheduled plan is a living document. If nothing else, it provides an ideal scenario against which real results can be compared, and also helps in the deployment of resources. Gantt charts may be simplistic, but they do give a very basic overview. Thats why most project management solutions still include a gantt chart view.
